The NFL doesn’t take a break for the holidays and Week 16 is full of plenty of Christmas Eve games. However, the pressure is mounting for teams to try and qualify for the playoffs as the season winds down. Which teams are going to come through with a Christmas miracle? Read our predictions below!
Los Angeles Rams vs. Tennessee Titans – The Rams are in serious Super Bowl contention this year and after rolling over the Seahawks last week, it’s unlikely that the Titans will be able to stop them. Sunday it should be relatively warm and rainy, which means both teams will need to be playing their best. Either way though, it should be a Los Angeles win in Week 16.
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots – The Bills could pull off an upset like the Dolphins a few weeks ago, but the possibility seems so slim that Buffalo fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. New England at home is a fierce team to reckon with. There shouldn’t be rain this week in Foxboro, so the Patriots won’t be able to blame the weather if the scrappy underdog team manages to overtake them in Week 16.
Cleveland Browns vs. Chicago Bears – Sorry Browns, but Chicago needs this win in Week 16 whereas Cleveland needs more draft picks. There’s a chance of snow in Week 16 up in Chicago, but both teams should be used to the poor weather. If the Bears manage to capitalize on Deshone Kizer’s inexperience, then they could have their defense win this game for them.
Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints – High 60’s and cloudy for this Week 16 game is a great weather set up for these two southern teams. In a must-win matchup for the Falcons, they face off against a red-hot Saints offense. However, their defense has some key injuries which means that Matt Ryan and Devonta Freeman will capitalize to try to get that win in Week 16.
Detroit Lions vs. Cincinnati Bengals – Snowing in Cincinnati tomorrow could mean trouble for the Detroit Lions. Stafford got injured a few weeks back and it’s unclear whether he is 100% percent or not. If he isn’t, the Bengals will most likely take home a victory in Week 16.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers – Carolina is looking to extend their winning streak from two to three in Week 16 against a shaky Tampa Bay defense. With Cam Newton finding the perfect amount of chemistry with Christian McCaffrey. Look for the Panthers to come out on top in this week’s matchup.
Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs have the advantage in this Week 16 game because they’re used to playing in freezing cold weather. Miami will get a bit of a shock while they play in snowy weather and Alex Smith should continue to play as well as he has the past two weeks.
Denver Broncos vs. Washington Redskins – Denver has become a bit of a train wreck in the back half of this season with three different quarterbacks and none of them performing as well as they should. Kirk Cousins is still fighting for his job and a playoff opportunity in Washington, so the Redskins have the edge in Week 16.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Jets – The Jets have become the scrappy New York team that the Giants were once known as this season and managed to stay in the hunt for playoffs despite not having any of the talent that other teams have. Sadly, Week 16 will belong to the Chargers now that Rivers is surrounded by both offensive and defensive weapons. The only advantage that the Jets have is the colder 40 degree weather that is expected.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. San Francisco 49ers – Jimmy Garoppolo has shown that he’s the future face of the 49ers after back-to-back wins, but even he can’t stop the talented Jacksonville team. Bortles is playing better than he ever has now that his job is seriously on the line, and the Jaguars defense is a monstrosity. In 55 degree and cloudy weather, this should be an ideal victory for the Jaguars in Week 16.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys – Seattle is a good team when they’re playing at home, unfortunately they’ll have to travel to Dallas for Week 16. After the demoralizing loss to the Rams, who gutted their rush defense, Seattle will need to contend with Ezekiel Elliott. Unfortunately, that most likely means that the Cowboys should come out on top.
New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals – The Giants have looked much better under Steve Spagnuolo than they did under Ben McAdoo but it still seems unlikely that they’ll get a Week 16 win. Unless there’s a Christmas miracle, Arizona should go home with the victory.
